Teen, 18, Charged In Purse Snatching, Credit Card Theft In North Haven
The 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with the theft of a woman's credit card during a purse snatching in North Haven, police said
NORTH HAVEN, CT — An 18-year-old New Haven resident has been arrested in connection with the theft of a woman’s credit card during a purse snatching last month in North Haven, according to police.
Police responded to Big Y around 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 5 on the report of a woman who had her purse snatched from her. Police later found that the victim’s credit/debit(s) were used in New Haven after the theft, officials said.
“Detectives assisted with obtaining video surveillance and a suspect was quickly identified,” police wrote in a post on Facebook.

A warrant was obtained and the suspect was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, according to police.
Robert Smith, 18, of New Haven, was charged with second-degree larceny and was being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Smith also has an outstanding arrest warrant out of New Haven on larceny and burglary charges, according to police.
