Teens Caught With Marijuana Cookies At Park: North Haven Police
Police say the teens were in possession of nearly 140 marijuana cookies that were intended to be sold at upcoming teen parties.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two North Haven teens were arrested after they were found to be in the possession of nearly 140 marijuana cookies and more than $420 in cash at Grover-Wyman Park, according to police. An officer made the discovery after stopping to check on two suspicious vehicles that were at the park after dark, police said.
While checking on the vehicles, the officer detected the smell of marijuana and further investigation revealed that both teens were in possession of marijuana cookies. A total of 138 marijuana cookies were seized along with $421 in cash, according to police. (To sign up for North Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Police determined that the marijuana cookies were intended to be sold at upcoming teen parties. The teens were both charged as juveniles and released to their parents.

“The consumption of marijuana edibles is on the rise among teens,” police said in a press release. “Often times these homemade marijuana edibles will have high doses of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. An edible-induced high comes on more slowly than smoking the drug, so users, especially teens, may eat more when they fail to experience an immediate effect. This increases the chance of serious anxiety attacks and psychotic-like symptoms, and needed hospitalization.
“Parents are encouraged to educate their children about the reality of these seeming innocent appearing cookies.”
