Turf Fields at North Haven Middle School Get Thumbs Up: Report

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Middle School will now be home to two new turf fields this fall, reports the North Haven Citizen.

The Middle School Building Committee approved the fields on April 3 as part of a $69 million school renovation project which was approved by residents in 2014. The fields are being constructed along with a renovation of the natural grass softball field, and will be completed in November.

The districted has opted to use an alternative fill in place of crumb rubber often associated with turf fields. Crumb rubber has been linked to cancer risks.
