‘Turning Point’ Teacher Recognized In North Haven
North Haven Patch asked readers to tell us about an outstanding teacher.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — It is Teacher Appreciation Week, and North Haven Patch asked readers to celebrate the incredible work educators do by telling us what teacher has influenced their child the most.
Kate Ciak sent us this note and photo:
I would like to recognize Nikki Perlin at Green Acres Elementary School in North Haven, she taught my daughter Savannah quite a few years ago in her 4/5 ID classroom. She will forever be known to our family as Miss Moon her maiden name. “Miss Moon” was a turning point teacher, someone who changed how my daughter felt about school, someone who helped instill confidence and redirected and recognized potential. “Miss Moon” was that teacher, the one you never forget, the one we still mention fondly in conversation, she brought learning to the forefront of her classroom, and kept everyone engaged and present, she nurtured and inspired my daughter. There is a quote that says “every student is one caring teacher away from being a success story” and for us Mrs. Perlin is the catalyst in Savannah’s success story!
Pictured below is from a few weeks ago when Savannah got to travel back to Green Acres for a Diversity Club presentation from North Haven High School.
