Vehicle Stolen While Victim Pumped Gas: North Haven Police
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the theft, according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of a vehicle while the victim was pumping gas in North Haven, according to police.
Police responded to Cumberland Farms at 249 State Street on the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim and witnesses told police that a silver Hyundai Sonata pulled into the parking lot around 10:45 a.m.
“A passenger in the Sonata then approached and entered a red Ford Edge, which was being fueled by the victim,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The owner of the Edge noticed a young male in the driver’s seat of their vehicle and attempted to open the door, which had now been locked. The suspect then drove off in the victim’s vehicle, being followed by the Sonata which brought him there. This information, as well as descriptions of each vehicle, were broadcast to surrounding towns.

“A short time later a North Haven officer assigned to an area violent crime task force, advised the victim's vehicle had been located, unoccupied, on Read St. in New Haven.”
The driver of the Sonata was found in New Haven and identified as a 14-year-old from New Haven, according to police. He was issued a juvenile summons and charged with conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle.

The Hyundai Sonata was determined to have been stolen out of New Haven and was used in a string of thefts in Wallingford on Wednesday morning, according to Wallingford police.
