Woman, 72, Rescued From Apartment Fire In North Haven
The woman became trapped on a second-floor deck during a kitchen fire, according to officials.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Firefighters rescued a 72-year-old woman who had become trapped on a second-floor deck during a kitchen fire at a North Haven apartment Thursday night, according to officials.
Emergency dispatch received a 911 call just before 8 p.m. on Jan. 9 from the resident of an apartment at 191 Pool Rd. reporting a kitchen fire.
“The North Haven Fire Department assigned E1 and T1 from fire headquarters as well as E7 and T2 from the Northeast volunteer fire station and E6 from the West Ridge volunteer fire station,” fire officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “R1 was unavailable due to another incident occurring at the same time. E1 and T1 arrived at 8:03 p.m. (6 mins after the first 911 call) to find smoke showing from the apartment on the 2nd floor with the resident trapped on the front deck unable to escape the apartment.

“Firefighters from E1 and T1 began to extinguish the fire while simultaneously working to evacuate the 72-year-old female from the residence. E7 arrived at 8:13 p.m. and worked with headquarters staff to check for fire extension and ventilate smoke. AMR responded to evaluate the patient for smoke inhalation.”
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
