Woman Charged In Attempted Theft Of Wallet At Big Y: North Haven PD

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Jersey woman was arrested Friday in connection with the attempted theft of a victim’s wallet at Big Y in North Haven, according to police.

North Haven police responded around 1 p.m. to Big Y at 345 Washington Avenue on the report of a theft. Officers were told that multiple women were seen leaving the area, according to police.

“While en-route officers were advised multiple females were seen fleeing the area,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Upon arrival officers learned the victim was asked a question by one of the suspects, while another suspect removed a wallet from the victim’s purse. The victim attempted to chase the suspect, who ultimately threw the wallet on the ground and continued to run.”

Officers found and arrested 23-year-old Andrea Fernandez-Reza of Jackson, New Jersey, according to police. She was charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

Police said the victim’s wallet was recovered, and the investigation is ongoing as other suspects are being sought.
