Woman Collected Dead Boyfriend's Firefighter Pension: North Haven Police
A woman has been charged with fraudulently collecting her boyfriend's volunteer firefighter pension for the five years since his death.

A New Haven woman is accused of fraudulently collecting her late boyfriend’s volunteer firefighter pension for the five years since his death, according to North Haven Police.
Nancy Taneszio was arrested on a warrant Tuesday following an investigation that began in November.
Police said the investigation began when detectives received information pertaining to pension fund fraud.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives learned that David Shea earned a pension after his affiliation with a volunteer fire company in North Haven.
Shea collected this pension for several years prior to passing away in December of 2010, according to police.

Police said that since Shea’s death, his then girlfriend, Taneszio, has been collecting the pension.
Taneszio failed to report Shea’s passing and has been fraudulently collecting the volunteer fire department pension from the town of North Haven for nearly five years, according to police.
Since Shea’s death, 57 pension checks were issued to Taneszio totaling $12,084.
Taneszio was charged with first-degree larceny and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 10.
