Woman Stole $22K From Victim In Extortion Case: North Haven Police
A woman is accused of stealing more than $22,000 from a person in North Haven in an extortion case, according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New London woman is accused of stealing more than $22,000 from a person in North Haven in an extortion case, according to police.
Officers responded to a complaint on Jan. 18 in which a victim reported being extorted, according to police.
Police said the victim transferred more than $22,000 to the suspect in the ongoing extortion.

An investigation determined that 50-year-old Theresa Cacioli of New London was responsible, and an arrest warrant was obtained, according to police.
Cacioli was arrested Jan. 26 and charged with first-degree larceny.

“The North Haven Police Department remains committed to protecting the community and thoroughly investigating crimes involving fraud, extortion, and financial exploitation,” police wrote. “Anyone who believes they may be experiencing a similar situation is encouraged to report it to the North Haven Police Department so that it may be properly investigated.”
