Woman Stole $80K In Jewelry, Semi-Automatic Gun From North Haven Home: Police

The suspect was arrested on a warrant on Tuesday.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 24-year-old woman is accused of stealing more than $80,000 worth of jewelry and a semi-automatic handgun out of a North Haven home this past winter, according to police. A Summer Lane homeowner reported the theft to police in February. The semi-automatic handgun was taken from a safe located inside the home, according to police.

Police said detectives identified a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. Alexandria Highsmith, 24, was arrested on a warrant on Tuesday, Aug. 8. (To sign up for North Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Highsmith, who police said resides in North Haven and Branford, was arrested on charges of first-degree larceny and theft of a firearm. She is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 9.
