In addition to awarding the best in show, 14 other categories and several honorable mentions were awarded. Over 840 submissions were made on Instagram to the #iconicNorwalk hashtag by the deadline for entry, and people are encouraged to continue submitting to the hashtag to be a part of the ongoing project exhibit.
By promoting neighborhood history in place-based art installations, better connections between the city and residents were made. This project encouraged people to enjoy Norwalk by promoting walkability and discovery in a public art exhibit that celebrates the cultural history of Norwalk.
The installation at ArtWorks Gallery on the Green runs through July 9th. An installation celebrating the Norwalk Harbor, the winning entries and the entire exhibit will be installed at the Containers at Constitution Park with an announcement of the ribbon cutting of the arts center to be announced in the near future.
