2 Civilians Awarded For Heroic Actions By Norwalk Police

Both men received a Civilian Recognition Award from the Norwalk Police Commission for their heroic actions.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Police Commission recognized two civilians this week for heroically intervening in an apparent suicide attempt earlier this month. Juan Garcia and Donald Remson both received a Civilian Recognition Award from the Commission on Monday.

According to a press release, Garcia observed a women attempting to jump off the Stroffolino Bridge on Dec. 8 and quickly exited his vehicle, telling his daughter who was with him to call 911. He then grabbed the women as she was climbing over the railing and was able to hold her, however he was unable to get her back over the railing, police said.
