NORWALK, CT — Two New Haven men were arrested Saturday night in Norwalk on gun-related charges, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Joe Dinho said the department received a report around 5:30 p.m. of a group of men standing in the road on South Street, one of which was holding a gun.

Officers immediately responded to the area and found several men matching the reported descriptions exiting a vehicle.

As officers approached the group, a man later identified as Wendell Hunte, 25, of New Haven, ran from the car toward a nearby home but was caught by police as he tried to open the door, Dinho said.

Another man who was in the vehicle, 23-year-old Samson Hunte, of New Haven, also entered onto the property and began arguing with officers, Dinho said. Neither of the men lived at the Norwalk home.

According to Dinho, both men were uncooperative and refused to identify themselves to officers.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a fully loaded Smith & Wesson revolver, as well as a barrel to a separate firearm that was not located, Dinho said.

Both men were charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, interfering with an officer and simple trespass. They are scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Dinho.
