2 New Businesses Coming To Wall Street Area Of Norwalk

Greer Southern Table restaurant and Endless Creativity party store are both opening in the city's Wall Street area soon.

NORWALK, CT — Two new businesses, a party store and a restaurant specializing in southern cuisine, plan to open in the Wall Street area of Norwalk soon.

Signs posted on the windows and doors of 7 River Street, a location that once housed the since-shuttered My Three Sons family arcade, indicate Greer Southern Table plans to open this spring.

Last month, Jessica Vonashek, the city's chief of economic and community development, confirmed in email to Patch the new eatery would be operated by restauranteur Greer Fredericks.

No stranger to the Norwalk dining scene, Fredericks previously owned Peaches Southern Pub & Juke Joint, located just down the road at 7 Wall Street, a restaurant specializing in tasty fried chicken and inventive cocktails that closed in early 2020.

While fans of Peaches may be eager to see their fried chicken return to Norwalk, the new restaurant's Facebook page promises Greer Southern Table will be a place "where exceptional cocktails and awesome music meet," featuring "classic southern fare with a twist."

An official menu has not yet been announced. Attempts to contact Greer Southern Table were not immediately returned.

Also coming soon to the former Peaches space on Wall Street is Endless Creativity, a new party store.

Reached by email Thursday, a representative for the store confirmed they plan to open "very soon." A pink and black banner hung above the door as construction is underway also indicates the business will be "opening soon."

Requests for more information about the store were not immediately returned.

Revitalizing Wall Street

Both businesses' upcoming openings hope to bring continued growth and added vibrancy to Norwalk's Wall Street area, which has received a lot of attention from the city in recent years.

The area has seen new businesses, such as Alma Bistro, Cocina Latina, open in recent months, as well as some closures, including the Wall Street Tavern. The area is also home to a number of long-established popular dining and entertainment options, including BJ Ryan's, Café Aroma, New York Bakery and Troupe429 among others.

Greater Norwalk Chamber President Brian Griffin said Monday this particular area of the city was clearly experiencing a period of renewal and growth.

"With investments and commitments from the city and property owners, the area is seeing a number of new business openings, as well as improved facades, and more to come with the city's overall planned revitalization project," Griffin said in an email to Patch. "All of this is very encouraging for new businesses who want to get established there as it becomes more desirable and attractive."

Last month, Vonashek said the city is continuing its commitment to business and the Wall Street corridor through a number of initiatives, most prominently through its Wall Street Corridor Improvements Project, which will include facade improvements on the Yankee Doodle Garage, located directly across from Greer Southern Table, and initiate improvements to crosswalks, sidewalks and lighting in the area.

In November, the city launched a new business development center at 3 Belden Avenue to support its small business community. According to Vonashek, the center is designed to be a continuous resource for entrepreneurs and business owners throughout the life cycle of their businesses.

"Mayor [Harry] Rilling launched the business development center because he is committed to using every tool possible to support our local business community and wants to see them thrive," Vonashek said in an email to Patch last month. "We hope future and current business owners and entrepreneurs will utilize this new resource."
