4 Displaced After Chimney Fire Breaks Out At Norwalk Home: FD

NORWALK, CT — A fire broke out in the chimney of a Norwalk home over the weekend, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.

In a news release, Assistant Chief Timothy Reardon said crews were called to a 1.5-story wood frameWest Rocks Road home Saturday just before 8 p.m. after receiving a report of a chimney fire.

When crews arrived, they found fire coming from the top of the enclosed wooden chimney box on the outside of the home, Reardon said.

As firefighters worked to quickly extinguish the blaze outside the home, crews also extinguished fire that had made its way inside the home into an interior wall and a bedroom, according to Reardon.

Crews remained at the home for approximately two hours chasing hot spots and confirming complete extinguishment, Reardon said.

Four people were displaced as a result of the fire, according to Reardon. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal's Office.
