4 Norwalk Police Officers Named 'Officers Of The Month'
Four Norwalk police officers were recognized as the department's "Officers of the Month" for March 2022.
NORWALK, CT — Four Norwalk police officers were recognized as the department's "Officers of the Month" for March 2022 during a police commission meeting Monday.
According to a post on the department's Facebook page, RichardMontanez, Ramon Tejada, Akeem Bryce and Kennedy Claver-Obinna were named "Officers of the Month" for their actions during an incident reported last month.
On March 23, officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in a Water Street parking lot. Upon checking the area, they located a vehicle attempting to leave the lot.

As Tejada attempted to stop the vehicle, it struck his cruiser in an attempt to flee the lot, according to police.
"The [driver] had little regard for the safety of officers as he attempted to leave the scene," the post reads.

After the occupants of the vehicle did not comply, Tejada was forced to break the vehicle's window to access the suspects, police said.
The officers successfully arrested two suspects, who were believed to be removing catalytic converters from vehicles in the area, according to police.
"[The officers] demonstrated exemplary police work in exhibiting sound tactics and techniques to a bring the highly stressful incident to a successful conclusion without injury to any parties," Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik said in a news release. "The individuals were found to have been responsible for numerous other thefts in Norwalk and a number of other jurisdictions."
