NORWALK, CT — Five Norwalk schools will have early dismissals Wednesday due to predicted extreme heat conditions, according to district officials.

Following Tuesday's hot weather and more extreme heat predicted for Wednesday, Norwalk Public Schools will release students from five schools early due to limited air conditioning in their buildings, the district announced Tuesday afternoon on Facebook.

Only the following five schools will have a two-hour early dismissal Wednesday, according to Norwalk Public Schools:

  • Naramake Elementary School
  • Rowayton Elementary School
  • Tracey Magnet School
  • West Rocks Middle School
  • Wolfpit Integrated Arts School

"We encourage all families to continue having their children dress in light, loose-fitting clothing and to bring a water bottle to school to stay hydrated throughout the day," district officials said on Facebook.

The district will also continue to monitor weather conditions this week and follow guidelines set by the state Department of Public Health. Families will be notified of any further changes.
