86 New Coronavirus Cases In Norwalk Schools After Christmas Break
As a result of the new coronavirus cases, 281 members of the Norwalk school community are under quarantine, according to district officials.
NORWALK, CT — The Christmas break was tough on Norwalk Public Schools, which reported 86 new coronavirus cases in the first week following the vacation, according to district officials.
As a result, 281 members of the school system community are in quarantine at 19 of the city's schools. The district does not release information breaking down the number of students and staffers who were infected.
Norwalk Public Schools turned to all remote learning to close out 2020 before the holidays, and students returned to hybrid learning on Jan. 4.

In recent months, Norwalk has seen an overall increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, which has kept the city on the state's list of red alert communities. To make the list, a Connecticut community reports more than 15 coronavirus cases per 100,000 people.
Forty new coronavirus cases were reported in Norwalk on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the city since the pandemic began to 7,242. The number of deaths in Norwalk as a result of the virus stood at 187 since last March.
