9 Connecticut Pizzerias Among Nation's Best

If you live in Connecticut, you already know the state boasts several excellent pizzerias.

But it never hurts to have that distinction recognized nationally, and the fine dining website The Daily Meal recently ranked the 101 Best Pizzas in America for 2016, and as in 2015, Connecticut was once again well-represented.

In fact, nine Connecticut pizzerias made the list, not bad for a state whose population is less than half of New York City alone.

"Which pizzerias truly serve pies to seek out, return for, and be in awe of?" writes The Daily Meal. "It’s more difficult than ever to answer that question."

In Connecticut, that question is not as hard to answer, as New Haven-based Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napolentana is considered tops in the state, and third-best in the nation overall. Just beating it out are John's of Bleecker Street in New York City (No. 2 in the nation) and Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn, New York (No. 1).

Of the nine Connecticut pizzerias to make The Daily Meal list, five are in New Haven, two are in West Haven, one is in Derby and one is in Stamford:
