9 Displaced, Belongings Destroyed In Norwalk Building Fire: FD
Fire officials said a multi-family home in Norwalk was gutted after a fire broke out in one of the building's bedrooms.
NORWALK, CT — Nine residents were displaced after a fire gutted a multi-family home Tuesday night in Norwalk.
In a news release, Deputy Chief Steve Shay said the fire started in a bedroom of the Lexington Avenue home around 10 p.m. and quickly spread to the floors above it.
Nine residents who were home at the time escaped without injury, however all of their belongings were destroyed, Shay said.

Shay said the house was gutted and declared unfit for occupancy. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The American Red Cross is providing the residents with temporary shelter, Shay said.

According to an additional news release provided by the Red Cross, the organization is helping seven families, a total of 13 adults, after the fire and provided assistance to meet their immediate needs.
