Norwalk Cops Arrest Suspect In Connection With Shooting: UPDATE

NORWALK, CT — A 23-year-old Monroe man has been arrested in connection with Thursday's shooting at the Roodner Court housing complex, which left one person injured, according to Norwalk police.

Marcus Bonaparte, of Elm Street, was charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was treated in Norwalk Hospital, but that person's condition has not been disclosed.

Bonaparte was apprehended by Bridgeport police near Central High School in that city Thursday evening, after a description of his vehicle was blasted out to area law enforcement agencies, Norwalk police said.

Authorities also recovered a firearm on Kings Highway East in Fairfield, where they believe it had been thrown from Bonaparte's vehicle.

"Both parties are known to each other," Norwalk police said of Bonaparte and the victim. "This is case is being investigated by the Norwalk Police Detective Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective John Sura at 203-854-3039."

Bonaparte was held in lieu of bail of $750,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 22.

Original Story: NORWALK, CT — One person was shot during an incident Thursday morning in the Roodner Court housing complex off Ely Avenue, according to Norwalk police.

Details of the shooting were not yet available, but the victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment. The person's condition was not disclosed.

The shooting occurred at about 10 a.m., and police said an investigation has been launched, for which additional law enforcement agencies are involved, according to Norwalk police.
