Actor and Norwalk Resident James Noble Dies at 94

The actor, perhaps best known for his role on the hit television series "Benson," suffered a stroke last week, reports The New York Times.

NORWALK, CT - Actor James Noble, perhaps best known for his role on the hit television series "Benson," died Monday at Norwalk Hospital at the age of 94, reports The New York Times.

Noble, a Norwalk resident, suffered a stroke last week, a family spokesperson told the Times.

According to his IMDB.com page, Noble had a long film and television acting career in addition to "Benson," which aired from 1979 to 1986. On the show, he played Gov. Eugene Gatling, a mild-mannered and lovable politician. He also performed extensively on Broadway, including in both the stage and film versions of the musical "1776."

Noble was born in Dallas, TX, in 1922 and served in the Navy in World War II, the Times wrote.
