
Approximately, forty-five members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. participated in AKA Day at the Capitol. This annual event is designed to bring awareness to domestic and international issues that impact the lives of Connecticut citizens. Throughout the sorority’s history, its members have addressed public policy affairs that affect the public. Sorority members met with state constitutional officers, elected officials, and public residents to learn more about current legislative issues, and opportunities to participate in the legislative process. They discussed topics such as Housing as it pertains to the Clean Slate Bill, the Criminal Justice system, Education as it pertains to Curriculum and Instruction, Minorities in Education, Equal Pay for Women and the State Budget.
