
Alfred Mennona, known to his friends as Fred or Scooter, died peacefully on October 13, 2018 at Autumn Lake Health Care in Norwalk with his devoted wife of 40 years, Olivia Rodrigues Mennona by his side. He was born in Stamford on April 25, 1933 and was a son the late Patsy and Catherine Seymour Mennona.
Alfred was a retired Truck Driver and he started his 40 year career with Baunty Company which was sold to Telesco and finished with HI-HO D’Addario in Stamford all the while being a member of the Truck Driver Union #191.
Fred enjoyed music, dancing, gardening and yard landscaping but most of all working on cars. He was a very caring person, if someone needed help or a ride he would be there to lend a hand.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Debbie Mennona and Joyce Tournas and her husband Art; a sister-in-law who would help care for him, Joanne Rodrigues; a brother Joseph Mennona and sister Maryann Carson; another sister-in-law Marie Pounds; two grandchildren, Jason and Stacy; many nieces and nephews from East to West coast. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, James, John, Tony and Arthur and two sisters, Catherine Johnson and Judy Pulmer.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday from 10:00 am till noon at the Hoyt-Cognetta-Lesko Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street in Historic Norwalk. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. Please visit www.norwalkfh.com for more information.
