All Norwalk Kindergartners To Get Library Cards

From Norwalk Public Library: The Norwalk Public Library and the Norwalk Public Schools Early Childhood department have partnered to offer every kindergarten student in Norwalk a library card. There are 844 kindergarten students across the 12 Norwalk Elementary Schools.

The partneship will begin with a rally at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Tracey Elementary School , 20 Camp Street. The schools principal, Theresa Rangel, and Norwalk Public Schools central office staff will tell stories about their first library card before handing out Norwalk Public Library card applications, along with the book “Lola at the Library", Tracey's kindergarten students.

Parents can bring the completed applications to either Norwalk Public Library location, the main library at 1 Belden Avenue, or the South Norwalk branch at 10 Washington Street, or they can return the applications to their child's teacher and a library staff member will pick them up.

All elementary schools will have the applications and books to give out to their students on Monday, October 23, 2017.

Both the Norwalk Public Library and the Norwalk Public School District are enthusiastic about the partnership. Public library cards open up new worlds for children. Library cards are an extension of the education they’re receiving in school.
