Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Pink Goes Red
Sorority Takes On Heart Disease

The Omicron Upsilon Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated hosted its annual Pink Goes Red event to bring awareness to heart health and to help reduce personal risks of heart disease. Sorority members traded in their colors of pink and green to wear red for the occasion. More than 150 attendees, including sorority member, families, and community members participated in the affair held at the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford. Attendees received passports authorizing them to visit vendors for blood pressure screenings, CPR training, nutrition consults, and anti-tabacco information. The sorority distributed healthy snacks and raffled door prizes. Planet Fitness provided the grand prize of a year’s health club membership. Community participants included Dr. Romelle Maloney, Greenwich Hospital, ShopRite, the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, Open-Door Shelter, Person-to-Person Norwalk and WEE-ACT. Participants joined Dream Life Works in heart healthy line dancing throughout the evening. Guests left with pamphlets and handouts promoting heart healthy activities and programs.
