NORWALK, CT — The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will hold special recruiting and orientation sessions in Norwalk next month.
According to a news release provided by the museum, sessions will be held May 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and May 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 295 West Avenue in Norwalk.
Volunteer Coordinator Robin Lynch will lead engaging sessions on "the vital ways volunteers can contribute to the preservation of this national historic landmark and strengthen its community," according to the release.
Whether prospective volunteers are interested in archival materials, community outreach, administration or working in the gift shop, this discussion will highlight how their unique skills can make a lasting impact, according to LMMM.
The event will include an informational tour and light refreshments provided by the museum's management team.
A background in history is not required, according to LMMM.
Attendees will also be invited to meet members of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum's board and staff during the orientation sessions, the release notes.
According to LMMM, the museum relies on dedicated volunteers for a variety of tasks, including conducting guided tours, managing gift shop sales and assisting with community and fundraising events like the Old-Fashioned Flea Market and the annual gala.
Opportunities also include researching and implementing award-winning exhibitions, coordinating school and youth group outreach, managing archival projects and contributing to marketing and media production, according to the release.
Applicants can volunteer on a weekly basis or occasionally for specific projects or events, according to LMMM.
Youth (ages 16 and up) and adults who are interested in volunteering to help this national historic landmark can fill out an application online at the museum's website, email Lynch or call (203) 838-9799 (x 115).
Pre-registration is required, according to LMMM.
