NORWALK, CT — The Maritime Aquarium invites educators to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week during a Teacher Appreciation Day event next month.
According to a news release provided by the Norwalk aquarium, all teachers, along with one guest, will receive complimentary admission on May 3 "in recognition of their commitment to inspiring future generations."
The event offers a unique opportunity for teachers to explore the Maritime Aquarium's exhibits and discover educational programs tailored to students from preschool through college, according to the release.
Attendees are invited to Oyster Hall in the morning for complimentary coffee, tea or juice between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to engage with aquarium educators and fellow teachers.
According to the aquarium, this informal gathering will highlight how the aquarium can serve as a dynamic extension of the classroom.
"Our goal is for every teacher in the region to view the aquarium as an extension of their classroom," Tom Naiman, vice president of education at the aquarium said in a news release. "We're excited to welcome teachers to the aquarium and showcase how our exhibits and programs can support and enrich classroom learning through hands-on engagement."
Teachers must present a valid school ID to receive free admission.
Additional guests are welcome at standard admission prices. Tickets are available for purchase in advance or on-site the day of the event, according to the aquarium.
