NORWALK, CT — Over 500 drivers in Norwalk were cited for distracted driving last month, according to the Norwalk Police Department.
In a Facebook post Monday, police said Norwalk officers conducted 1,750 motor vehicle stops in April, resulting in 2,008 violations.
Among those violations, 537 drivers were cited for distracted driving, according to police.
Police noted that number is "a reminder of how crucial it is to stay focused behind the wheel."
"Distracted driving is preventable," police wrote on Facebook. "Every text, call, or scroll can wait—your safety and the safety of others cannot."
Police also emphasized no text or call is worth a crash.
"Traffic safety is a shared responsibility," police wrote. "Let's work together to keep our roads safe for everyone. Stay focused. Stay safe."
