NORWALK, CT — Police are investigating an unverified swatting call received by a Norwalk public school Monday, according to the Norwalk Police Department.

In a news release around 1:30 p.m., Police Lt. Ramon Tejada said officers checked and cleared the affected school after it received an unverified swatting call earlier in the day.

No credible threat was identified, according to Tejada.

The incident remains under active investigation, Tejada said.

"Based on our preliminary findings, there appears to be no validity to the reported threat," Tejada said in a news release. "This incident is consistent with several recent swatting calls reported throughout our area over the past week."

A secure protocol was implemented across all schools in the district out of an abundance of caution, Tejada said.

Officers were also assigned to each school to provide a sense of safety and security, according to Tejada.

"We remain in contact with our Norwalk Public School partners, and we will provide updates if anything new comes to light," Tejada said.

Last week, two separate "swatting" incidents were reported at two public schools in Greenwich, according to police.

A "swatting" incident was also reported at a middle school in Westport last week, according to police.
