Police Seize Cocaine, Firearm During Search In Norwalk: PD

NORWALK, CT — Officers seized cocaine, a firearm and other items during a search following a Norwalk man's arrest Thursday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Ramon Tejada said Jesmar Velazquez, 37, of Norwalk, was arrested by the department's Special Services Division with assistance from the Tactical Response Team following a narcotics investigation that led to the execution of three search warrants.

As part of the investigation, officers obtained search warrants for Velazquez's residence, person and vehicle, Tejada said.

Velazquez was also the subject of three active arrest warrants charging him with the sale and possession of a controlled substance, according to Tejada.

Velazquez was arrested at the Stamford Superior Courthouse, where he was appearing for an unrelated court matter, Tejada said.

Officers then executed the search warrants, during which investigators seized a firearm, a pellet gun resembling a firearm, 4.54 grams of crack cocaine, 10.1 grams of powder cocaine, drug packaging materials, cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics and additional items commonly associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics, according to Tejada.

Velazquez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a firearm.

His bond was set at $500,000, according to Tejada.

Velazquez was also charged on a warrant with three counts of sale and possession of a controlled substance.

His bond in connection to those charges was set at $525,000, according to Tejada.

Velazquez is scheduled to appear in court next month, Tejada said.
