The grand opening took place Thursday, which the store celebrated with weekend-long deals and giveaways for customers.

Speaking from her store Thursday morning as customers flooded in, owner Lauren Rossi said it felt great to finally see Once Upon a Child fully open for business in Norwalk.

"We've already had hundreds of people today and it's only been an hour and half," Rossi said to Patch. "Great feedback, great response, the community seems really happy."

With a focus on being a sustainable shopping resource for local families, the Norwalk store is part of Winmark - the Resale Company, a national retail resale franchise that focuses on sustainability, small business formation and "providing resale for everyone," according to additional press materials provided by Once Upon a Child.

Once Upon a Child has locations in a number of Connecticut communities and nearby states, however Rossi's locally owned and operated store is the first in Norwalk.

Rossi said the feedback she has received from the local community thus far has already been very positive.

"We have a really great community here, really great people," Rossi said. "My employees have also been working so hard to build this."

Located near the AMC Royale 6 movie theater and The Edge Fitness Club, the Norwalk store occupies the former OshKosh B'Gosh space next to a former Carter's store location.

Rossi previously recommended customers follow the Norwalk store on social media so they can keep up with what the store is offering and looking for.

"Come check us out," Rossi said. "We have amazing stuff. Bring your kid's stuff and check out what we have. You are not going to get a better deal around."
