Flooding Reported In Norwalk, Police Urge Drivers To Avoid Flooded Streets: PD

NORWALK, CT — Police said the department has received "numerous reports of flooding" throughout Norwalk as inclement weather moves through the city Tuesday afternoon.

In a Facebook post around 1 p.m., police urged drivers who encounter standing or moving water on the road not to drive through it.

"Just a few inches of water can cause you to lose control of your vehicle," police wrote on Facebook, "and deeper water can quickly sweep a vehicle away or hide dangerous road hazards."

Police also urge drivers to use alternate routes and avoid flooded streets.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for southern Fairfield County until 1:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday.

A flash flood warning has also been issued for southern Fairfield County and western New Haven County until 4 p.m.
