Distressed Kayaker Rescued By Firefighters In Norwalk: FD

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Fire Department's marine unit recently rescued a distressed kayaker in the water.

In a Facebook post Friday afternoon, fire officials said the marine unit responded to a report of a distressed kayaker whose paddle had broken, leaving him unable to control the kayak in the strong tidal current.

Fire officials also noted the kayaker was without a life vest.

Marine unit crews quickly and safely brought the kayaker back to shore, officials said.

"Norwalk Fire Department remains ready to respond whenever we're needed on land or on the water," the department's post reads.

The department's post did not specify what day or where in Norwalk the incident took place.
