NORWALK, CT — Police are warning residents of an officer impersonation scam recently reported in Norwalk.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, police said the department has received several reports of someone posing as a Norwalk police officer calling residents and claiming they missed jury duty and must now pay a $500 fine.
Police urge residents not to provide payment or personal information in response to these calls.
Anyone who receives a call like this is asked to contact the Norwalk Police Department at 203-854-3000 and report it.
"Please share this information with family, friends and neighbors to help prevent others from becoming victims," police wrote on Facebook.
