Apartment Kitchen Fire Displaces 3 Residents In Norwalk: FD

NORWALK, CT — Crews extinguished a kitchen fire that broke out early Wednesday morning at a Norwalk apartment, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.

In a news release, Deputy Chief Adam Markowitz said the kitchen fire was reported just before 7 a.m. at an Ely Avenue apartment building.

When crews arrived in the area, they found smoke showing from several third floor windows on the front of the building, Markowitz said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze while crews searched the building and performed horizontal ventilation, according to Markowitz.

The fire was contained to the area of the stove, however the apartment suffered heavy smoke damage throughout, Markowitz said.

Three residents were displaced by the fire, according to Markowitz.

No injuries were reported, Markowitz said.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire, according to Markowitz.
