Norwalk To Hold Annual Open House, Touch A Truck Event

Guests of all ages are invited to enjoy a fun and free event where they can learn, climb and meet city staff, officers and more.

NORWALK, CT — The city will hold its annual open house and touch a truck event later this month in Norwalk, police announced Thursday.

In a Facebook post, police said the event will take place Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Public Works Operations Center, located at 15 South Smith Street in Norwalk.

According to a flyer provided by police, the event will feature hands-on activities and demonstrations, wastewater treatment plant tours, giveaways and light refreshments.

Guests can also meet Norwalk firefighters, police officers, community partners and public works and city staff during the event, according to the flyer.

"Enjoy this fun, free event for all ages to learn, climb, and touch a lot of trucks and meet DPW crews, city staff, officers, and more," the department's post reads.

Guests are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Open Doors food pantry, such as peanut butter, jelly, pasta sauce, soup, tuna or macaroni & cheese, according to police.
