Norwalk Offering Free Storm Waste Pickup For Residents

NORWALK, CT — The city is offering a one-time free flooded waste collection for some Norwalk residents this week.

According to the city's Facebook page, the city is offering a one-time free flooded waste collection for 4th Taxing District residents who receive city garbage and recycling services and have household flood damage from last weekend's storm.

Collection will take place the week of Sept. 21, according to the city.

The city noted residents can sign up using one of the following methods:

• Online: Submit a request here.

• Phone: Call 203-854-3200 (Press 0).

The city also released the following collection guidelines:

• Flood-damaged items only.
• All items except for furniture must be bagged.
• Carpet will be accepted, provided that it is cut into pieces meeting the applicable size requirements.
• Items not accepted: hazardous household items, appliances containing freon, tires and construction and demolition materials.
