Norwalk Italian Restaurant Announces Closure After Nearly 30 Years

NORWALK, CT — Beloved neighborhood Italian restaurant Pasquale's Osteria will close its doors for good next week after nearly 30 years in Norwalk, the restaurant announced this week.

In an announcement posted to Facebook, the restaurant revealed Pasquale's last day of operation will be Tuesday.

Located at 186 Main Street, Pasquale's has been serving up a wide menu of Italian favorites in Norwalk since 1997.

"Nearly 30 years ago, Chef Pasquale Poccia created Pasquale's Osteria—a gathering place where friends and family could connect over good food and drink," the announcement reads.

According to the announcement, chef and owner Poccia has decided to retire after "creating wonderful food in restaurants from Italy to Germany, France, Australia and finally right here in Norwalk" for more than 50 years.

"Over the years, many have come to know Pasquale's as 'that special place,'" the announcement reads, "a place where you always leave feeling full, where the menu is filled with the flavors Pasquale grew up with in his hometown of Santa Maria Infante, where the staff become friends and where Pasquale himself holds a special place in the hearts, and stomachs, of everyone who walks through the door."

The announcement also noted Poccia is looking forward to spending more time with his family in both Italy and the United States.

"Pasquale thanks all his patrons and friends for the many years of support, love, laughter and friendship," the announcement reads. "He will miss you all—and he hopes you will carry many wonderful memories of Pasquale's Osteria with you. Arrivederci, ciao, goodbye—and thank you."

According to the restaurant's website, Pasquale grew up in Italy surrounded by the traditions and flavors of authentic Italian food cooked by, and for, family.

That food often brought people together for conversation and camaraderie, according to the website.

"It is that passion for great food, conversation, for friends and for famiglia that is at the heart of Pasquale's Osteria and has been since 1997," the website reads.

The restaurant serves both lunch and dinner and features a wide menu of pasta, fish, chicken and other dishes, as well as an "eat well menu" and various dinner and drink specials.
