City, Norwalk Public Schools To Hold Joint Budget Public Hearing

NORWALK, CT — The city and Norwalk Public Schools invite the community to participate in their annual budget public hearing next week ahead of the development of the fiscal year 2027-2028 operating and capital budgets.

According to a news release provided by the city, the hearing will be hybrid and take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers and via Zoom.

Per the city's charter, the city and NPS must host a joint annual public hearing on or before Oct. 1 of each year for the purpose of listening to the community's ideas about the upcoming capital and operating budgets, according to the release.

Hearing the community's feedback early in the budget process helps the city and the district better understand where the community wants to invest funds and how best to support their requests, according to the city.

The panel will include city and NPS officials who play a role in the development of the Norwalk's operating and capital budgets, according to the city.

• Interim Superintendent of Norwalk Public Schools Sandra Faioes
• City Council President Josh Goldstein
• Board of Education Chair Howard White
• Johan Lopez, Finance and Claims Committee
• Sheri McCready-Pritchet, finance chair of the Board of Education
• Ed Abrams, chair of the Board of Estimate and Taxation
• Tammy Langalis, Planning and Zoning Commission
• Jared Schmitt, chief financial officer for the City of Norwalk
• Lunda Asmani, chief financial officer for Norwalk Public Schools
