NORWALK, CT — A fire was reported at a 6-story Norwalk apartment building Monday night, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.
In a news release, Assistant Chief Timothy Reardon said smoke was reported in a hallway on the third floor of the Monroe Street building.
When firefighters arrived in the area, they found smoke emitting from the front of the building, Reardon said.
Crews entered the building and found a kitchen fire within a third floor apartment, as well as heavy smoke on the third and fourth floors "with many occupied apartments to search," Reardon said.
The fire was extinguished in approximately 30 minutes and no injuries were reported, according to Reardon.
Norwalk police and hospital EMS provided assistance and the fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire, Reardon said.
