Norwalk residents can donate food at every polling location on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as Person to Person holds an Election Day food drive, according to a city announcement. The organization, also known as P2P, will place collection bins at the sites to help stock its four food pantries.
Most-needed items include hearty soups, pasta and sauce, peanut butter and jelly, canned tuna and chicken, dried and canned beans, cereal and oatmeal, snack and granola bars, canned fruits and vegetables, macaroni and cheese, rice, pancake mix and shelf-stable milk. The donations will help P2P provide nutritious groceries to local families, according to the announcement.
Volunteers will work in shifts to collect donations, and all food collected will be weighed. P2P plans to share the collection totals on its website, on social media and with local news outlets, according to the city announcement.
