Lou's Pizza (Norwalk), 2nd Anniversary!

Lou’s Pizza, located at 115 New Canaan Avenue, Norwalk, is currently celebrating its second anniversary in business serving up some of the finest pizza in the area. The shop, known for its thin-crust style pizzas, has made something of a name for itself over the past two years as a friendly place to get great-tasting pizzas. Inspired by his grandfather — the namesake behind the original Uncle Joe’s Pizza, located just down the road from Lou’s — Lou follows the tradition taught to him and continues to make thin-crust pizza.

When he opened his doors just two years ago Lou Letizia owner, operator, and chief pizza maker felt he was returning home, by coming back to his old neighborhood. “I grew up in the Broad River section of Norwalk; I had moved my business away for a bit, but becoming known for the best thin crust pizza at a location not too far from where his grandfather became famous was too hard to pass up. So now, whenever you come into Lou’s he’s not only in the kitchen, cooking, but quite often he’s the one that answers the phone and greets you when you walk in.

“Here, it’s fresh every day.” Not a fan of pre-packaged anything, Lou is in the restaurant every day making sure that all of the food he prepares and serves is fresh for his. Lou credits his passion for cooking to his mother, Rosie. “With Rosie, cooking came from the heart, no measuring cups, no written recopies, always from the heart. If mom were alive she would be in the kitchen cooking with me.”

This kind of old school philosophy has permeated into every facet of Lou’s business, and it clearly shows as he not only greets most of his regulars by name, but he also recognizes how much of a privilege it is to be serving the public. According to Lou, if you do something you love to do for a living, you’ll never “work” a day in your life. The menu at Lou’s is fairly small. “I wanted to keep it simple,” Lou said, “Because it is better to do a few things really well, than a lot of things only okay.”

Over the past two years Lou has been encouraged by the loyalty of his patrons, and looks forward to continuing to evolve his business in the year to come. He is looking to build a web site so he can have his full menu on line, and possibly offering corporate lunch delivery service. Currently Lou doesn’t deliver but he is open for business seven days of the week. His Hours of operation are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday from 4-9, and Wednesday through Saturday from Noon to 9. Lou’s Pizza is located at 115 New Canaan Avenue, Norwalk, and can be reached by calling 203.840.1800.
