Area Resident Makes $250K Pledge to Norwalk CC Foundation

The donation will be made over a five-year period to fund student scholarships.

A Greenwich resident has made a $250,000 pledge to the Norwalk Community College Foundation to support student scholarships at NCC.

“The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, reached out to a former longtime Board Director of the NCC Foundation to learn more about NCC and how he could support student success,” Executive Director of the NCC Foundation Ann Rogers said in a statement.

The donation will be dispersed over five years, with $50,000 supporting student scholarships each year.

During the first year, $25,000 will benefit the college’s LEAP scholarship program, which provides high-achieving NCC graduates with financial support to transfer to a four-year college or university. An additional $25,000 will benefit Start2Finish, a joint initiative with NCC and the NCC Foundation launched this Fall for 571 first-time, full-time students. Start2Finish focuses on academic planning and intensive student support services. This donation will help fund Start2Finish Success Awards, a new program that offers performance-based incentives for students to meet with coaches on a regular basis.

“It is gratifying how Board Directors of nonprofit organizations like the NCC Foundation remain ambassadors of the institution for a lifetime,” said Rogers. “This donation will not only support the best and brightest, but also give first-time students the best shot at a successful start in college so they can finish and achieve a degree.”
