NORWALK, CT — The armed robbery of a woman Wednesday night in Norwalk is believed to be connected to the theft of a vehicle from a gas station in town, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Joe Dinho said a woman reported around 11:45 p.m. she had been walking along Henry Street when a red vehicle pulled up alongside her. Two armed passengers then got out of the car while the driver remained in the vehicle.

The woman told police one passenger pointed a gun at her and the other hit her in the face with a gun while trying to steal her purse, Dinho said.

The woman said the passengers took her money and got in the car before it drove away. She then ran to police headquarters, where she received medical care, Dinho said.

Minutes later, police received a call from a man at a Mobil gas station on East Avenue reporting his vehicle stolen. The man told officers he was inside the gas station when he saw two men enter his vehicle, which was left running, and drive off with it, Dinho said.

After further investigation, police determined a similar vehicle was used in both incidents, which may be connected, Dinho said.

The stolen vehicle was later found in Bridgeport and examined by Norwalk police, Dinho said.
