Arrest Made After Norwalk Shooting: PD

A man who had been shot was arrested after police found him with a handgun, according to police.

NORWALK, CT — A Stratford man was arrested after he was found to be carrying a pistol after being shot, according to police.

Police heard gunshots on Washington Street near a parking lot and spotted Jeffrey Moultrie, 28, acting suspiciously in the area, said Lt. Terrence Blake, police spokesman.

Police ordered him to stop and remove his hands from his sweatshirt, but he didn't comply. He dropped a handgun and fled on foot, Blake said. After a short foot chase he was apprehended and found to have been shot in the hip.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of the non-life threatening wound. He was arrested after being released from the hospital.

Meanwhile Sgt. Garrett Kruger observed a vehicle exiting a parking lot onto Martin Luther King Drive at a high rate of speed. Kruger stopped the vehicle and found that a male operator had been shot, Blake said. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Moultrie was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and interfering with police.
