One of 13 Fairfield County libraries that came together, for the first time, to explore the relationship between art and text, Norwalk PL will showcase work that is a unique twist on ekphrastic poetry, the vivid, often dramatic, verbal description of a visual work of art. In a reversal, we called for submissions of poetry and photos of artwork, from which our committee selected 12 poems and 12 artists. Artists were then given a poem and asked to create an original, visual representation of the poem in the medium of their choice.
The Art & Text exhibit also will include the work of three sixth-grade artists who submitted their work, six poets and six artists from the Winston Preparatory School, and Norwalk Housing Authority S.T.E.M. Club artists and poets.
