NORWALK, CT — A city resident's beloved annual display of a tree covered with colorful Easter eggs has returned in Norwalk, continuing a nearly 20-year tradition.
Ahead of the Easter holiday, which falls on April 5 this year, Norwalk resident Jalna Jaeger has once again set up the festive display outside her East Avenue home.
According to Jaeger, who has been decorating her tree ahead of Easter for the past 18-19 years, this year's display took her and four other people about two hours to set up.

"The work is stringing the eggs, which I do," Jaeger said in an email to Patch, "adding new eggs each year as some get old and crack."
Jaeger said she plans to keep this year's display up for about six weeks and take it down after Orthodox Easter, which falls on April 12 this year.

She also noted the weather was very cold and there was still snow on the ground when the display went up this year.
The work of setting it up is worth it though, as Jaeger noted she always receives positive reactions to the tree from residents.
"I'm glad that I can do something for Norwalk that everyone can enjoy," Jaeger said.
Last year, Jaeger shared the backstory behind this colorful Easter tradition with Patch, which originally featured about 200 eggs and has since increased considerably.
Jaeger, who has lived in her East Avenue home for nearly 50 years, noted last year that people driving by often stop their car to take photos with their family in front of the tree, especially as the weather warms up.
"My favorite part is when people drive by and thank me," Jaeger said this week, "or tell me how much it cheers them up. We all certainly need that, and I'm glad my tree brings people joy!"
