'Black Nonbelievers' founder to speak on atheist diversity
The President of Black Nonbelievers will discuss creating more diversity in the secular community.
The founder of Black Nonbelievers, Inc. will lead a discussion on creating more diversity in the secular community at the July 30 meeting in Norwalk of the Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County.
Mandisa Thomas started the Atlanta, Ga., based nonprofit and currently serves as president. The group has since grown to include affiliates in major cities in seven states.
Thomas’s presentation is titled “Don’t Just TALK About It - BE About It!” and offers suggestions on how atheists and agnostics can approach some of the unique challenges of reaching out to visible minorities, while encouraging minorities to become confident and outspoken in their own nonbelief.
