Press release from Norwalk Public Library System:

Sept. 23, 2020

The Norwalk Public Library is pleased to announce that we are now lending WiFi Hotspot Kits, which contain a Dell Chromebook, a personal Hotspot with unlimited data, and all cables necessary to use these devices. Kits are available to be borrowed by adults who have a Norwalk Public Library card in good standing. Visit the sidewalk service desk at the Main library, or the SoNo branch to borrow a kit for a one-week, non-renewable period. Check-out is limited to one (1) Hotspot Kit per household. Borrowers will be asked to provide additional ID along with their library card, e.g. driver’s license, state photo ID, etc.

Please note that Hotspot Kits must be returned in-person to the sidewalk service desk from which they were borrowed, between 9 - 5 p.m., Monday - Saturday. Placing the kit in a book drop or returning it to a different library, will result in a $10 fine and loss of kit borrowing privileges. At one week overdue, borrowers will be charged the full replacement cost of the Hotspot Kit - $280. The same amount will be charged for a Hotspot Kit that is stolen, lost or returned altered or damaged in any way.

Now, more than ever before, having the ability to connect to the Internet is important to conduct your daily business, stay up-to-date on news and local happenings, participate in remote learning and enjoy your favorite entertainment. While our doors may still be closed out of concern for the health and safety of our patrons and staff, we are delighted to be able to offer our patrons this free opportunity to access the Internet from the safety of home, during this challenging time.
